Reinforced concrete is much stronger and less likely to crack. Depending on the size of your concrete area, you may not have to have reinforcing in your concrete for your Council to approve it. Each council has different requirements – check your local Council as to what the requirements are in your area.
Even if your Council doesn't require reinforcing for your project (ie patio, path, driveway), we strongly recommend that you do include reinforcing mesh in any concrete area to keep it strong. Particularly in Canterbury with the uncertainty of ongoing earthquakes. If you are pouring a new concrete area, remember to include reinforcing mesh for peace of mind. Call us to discuss your project and get some advice.
